I was honoured to be chosen as one of the 2 photographers to work with the newly released AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR. The introduction of Nikon’s powerful Vibration Reduction (VR) and a brand new optical construction breathe new life into this photography workhorse: indeed it is the most widely used professional lens in the NIKKOR line-up. And I can understand why – the focal length range offers you the chance to capture stunning landscape and environmental images as well as beautiful portraits. Used around the 2.8 mark the lens renders a beautiful bokeh blur and performs brilliantly in low light and the new VR can reduce camera shake and vibration up to ~4.0 stops.
I shot a range of portraits and environmental imagery during the month – across weddings, fine art portraits and even some equine photography and you can see some of the final edits here individually or view the collection on the slideshow.
I was incredibly sad to send this lens back to Japan – it is a pleasure to work with being unbelievably sharp, smooth and versatile. I will absolutely be upgrading my existing 24-70 to this model.
