Portrait Photography Shoots
In this digital age there is still a very important place for bespoke portraiture and I believe it is more important than ever to capture unique portraits with emotion and impact – images that you love now but that will also last a lifetime. As a photographer it is people, and all their infinite differences, that fascinate and inspire me. My love affair with image making has always been based on a desire to capture an individual’s essential character in a beautiful yet honest way and to reflect how people love and live.
“It’s one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it’s another thing to make a portrait of who they are.” – Jon Paul Caponigro
This is not easy to do, yet something that I have a reputation for achieving because I take the time to get to know you. It is very important that shoots are relaxed and real, in a setting that allows you to feel comfortable and be yourself. Think of me as the vehicle to bring your vision to life – for some this will mean very natural, outdoor family photography with a timeless quality and others may prefer an indoor location, with dramatic lighting that you would describe as fine art portrait photography. Successful people photography is all about teamwork – the more we collaborate the more individual your shoot will be. I have photographed people all over the UK and even in beautiful places like Italy, Dubai and the Seychelles – location is very important and I’m always prepared to travel if it means more interesting and inspiring backdrops. My portrait shoots vary as much as the people I photograph and include families, children and couples as well as corporate and commercial photography commissions. My portrait photography gallery demonstrates this variety and also shows the kind of locations that I have worked in and how careful thought about where we shoot, clothing and styling helps to make the images unique and artistic. We all want and need to have lovely photographs that truly reflect who we are and celebrate the relationships we have yet very few people like the thought of having their photograph taken, However, all of my clients are greatly relieved by the fact that they actually enjoy the shoot experience. Probably the greatest skill a people photographer should have is the ability to put people at ease. I’m totally confident in my ability to do this for you and perhaps your family – whether they are unpredictable toddlers or self conscious teenagers. And don’t forget the animals in your life either – I have photographed many family pets as well as horses (I have ridden my whole life and owned a horse in my teens so having the chance to photograph horses is something of a treat).
“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” – Aaron Siskind
I’m passionate about what I do and my aim is to give you something as unique and individual as you are. I’ll do my very best to provide a great experience, fantastic service and photography that looks and feels like art. Following the post production stage you will receive many gorgeous images in digital format but I always work hard to create some stand out images that you will want to frame and celebrate as a piece of art at home. I also work with beautiful album manufacturers and some families book me every few years to produce an album that documents the changes and evolution of their lives. I have a very simple approach to pricing which is based on my time and consists of an hourly shoot rate and associated hourly post production rate. Find out more about my portrait shoot pricing here.
