Lost Orangery Wedding
I shoot at lots of beautiful venues but when Emily contacted me about wedding photography at The Lost Orangery in Wiltshire I was delighted. The Lost Orangery is on the edge of the Cotswolds and is set within 500 acres of spectacular private grounds. The venue is also known as Euridge Manor and it is nestled within the grounds of Sir Walter Raleigh’s old hunting lodge. It is a truly unique, beautiful and very much a ‘wow’ location for a wedding.
The grounds of this exclusive wedding venue offer several areas licensed for marriages and civil partnerships. Couples can choose the beautiful cloister, archway, portico, boat house, orangery or ballroom. Emily and Oliver opted for the thatched boat house for their lakeside ceremony. Every corner you turn you find some other gorgeous feature – crumbling ruins, outdoor chandeliers, Italian gardens etc. The Lost Orangery is made for some drone work so Brent flew it in the morning and the short video below gives you a wonderful aerial overview of the venue. The wedding was in the middle of August but in true British style the weather didn’t play ball. Emily and Oliver wanted to have a ‘first look’ so that they could walk down to the ceremony together. We had of course planned to do this in the grounds but the rain started just at this point and didn’t stop until about 8pm that night….
So many couples worry about the weather at their weddings but you just can’t rely on a clear day in the UK – at any time of the year. I promised them that we would get lovely photos whatever and so we moved the confetti and group photos inside. I kept popping out to check on the rain and it finally stopped just before the cake cut and first dance. I suggested that we make the most of the opportunity, despite it being dusk, and Emily and Oliver were totally up for it. Even climbing into the boat and venturing out onto the boating lake. In many ways it was at its most beautiful with the grotto lights reflecting on the water.
Oh and I loved Emily’s flowers – they were absolutely gorgeous and created by Rachel at The Fresh Flower Company.
